It's that time of year when you start making your new year's resolutions. Usually it would be something like: 1. Lose 50lbs; 2. Meet new friends; 3. Spend more time with family, 4. Work less, etc....
But now that I am a Business Woman my thought process is different. After reading a few blogs I have come up with the following four:
1. Learn from past mistakes: We rarely acknowledge when we make mistakes, nor do we change our process when we do. Einstein said "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".
2. Revise my short and long term goals: Even though I have been in business less than a year, so much has happened and I need to update my game-plan to reflect it. I need to make them manageable.
3. Sign up for more seminars on social media marketing: This ever changing beast of technology is not only the lifeblood of my business but it is evolving too fast for my old brain. After a few seminars I was a semi-pro on tweeting, facebook, SEO, Google+. I practically signed up for any and every seminars there were. Some were great and some were a waste. But now I know what to look for.
4. Don't try to do everything yourself: This is something I usually tell others, but am embarrassed to say I failed at this year. There were so many opportunities and momentum when I started that I lost sight of what I needed to focus on. End result: I made more mistakes that I should have, am burned out and am behind in achieving my goals. So I need to learn to delegate or work in scale.
So now that I have shared with you my wisdom for 2012, what are yours? I would like to know. Like my son says "sharing is caring!" and you always learn from others.
Happy Holidays!
